Some guys DO, and some DON'T, but do most of you CRH's keep track of the number of ZERO Skunk boxes that you go through each week/month, otherwise how would you know what your percentage FIND rate be? And it also should be included in the Average Per Box calculation. My dime box avg is just a little over 1.5/box so far for this year. This way I can compare to previous years numbers, and not just the quantity found.

I keep a running count of all boxes of each type coin, plus source of box, with results for each box and totals for all silver types & Wheats and Canada coppers. plus total dollar amount. $306.545 worth of cardboard containers & rolls cut open. time to wash my filthy fingers :laughing7: & more coffee. :coffee2:

To me it is just a hobby, I kind of keep track of skunk boxes, like the time I ran 26 in a row with nothing, but that was years ago. Now I just take the good with the bad. I think I get about 6 boxes a month every month, some months I get a couple extra, but don't write down what I find and don't.

I'm new to all of this, but I have made a spreadsheet where I am tracking everything I go through.

Good idea, it may help in the long run to see on black & white what you have done & accomplished. Welcome to CRH & the TN forums.

Exactly what I keep track of, other than the cardboard. If I could find a place to sell that, I'd track it too.

Also have columns for proofs (other than halves), error coins, and magicians coins, plus a general notes column. At the bottom of the spreadsheet I have it calculate totals, and how many dollars searched per silver found. I keep a tab for each denomination and each calendar year, with one tab devoted to running totals linked to the other tabs.

Overkill perhaps, but once it was set up it pretty much ran itself. I create new tabs each January, and update the links in the Totals tab. I didn't track cents for a few years, and found that when I started tracking them again i enjoyed going through them much more, and actually went through many more cent boxes (and now bags) than I ever did before I started tracking them.

Like I said, overkill, but it fits my borderline OCD personality, I guess. Plus it gives me great data on which banks produce in a regular basis and other useful info.

I keep track of number of boxes searched and where they came from, amount of loose/CWR/MWR searched and where they came from, where I dump at and how long between dumps at branches, and total coins found.

I don't really feel a need to keep track of skunks, just total boxes. I also don't really feel a need to know my find rate.

All of you guys that replied must either be a numbers cruncher accountant, or good at the betting casinos as an odds maker. These are fabulous methods of keeping track. And my wife thought I was crazy keeping tabs, you guys are great. Keep it up & HH, DozerD.
