Sentinel and I have stumbled upon a great site.. Before today, we had gotten a 1753 pillar one reale, 1845 halfdime, several coppers (10-12 approx), 2 confederate "I" buttons, CW navy button, CW marine corps button and a Belgian boot pistol in three hunts.. Today was no disappointment either.  Here are today's finds.. HH Jeff

My first dig was the Queen Victoria copper and is the same size as a US half cent which is what I thought it was.. Here's the IH before cleaning and the 1841 Queen Victoria fresh out of the mineral oil bath.

Thanks you two, and no matter what the site was Quindy, Josh and I are very fortunate to have found it.. Unlike the PA brothers, there was no research involved other than a field across the street from an old house site that turned out to have several early dwellings

Those are some Quality finds. Shame that silver buckle wasn't whole. :-\ The sling buckle IS early, an it is a great find.

We got out today and dug several sites. Got permission for 430 acres with no prior research at all. Ended up finding 5 sites. Two were newer (so we didn't dig them)--1910s or 20s. Althought I got an IH from one of those. One was mid-1800s brick, but long-occupied and covered in canning jar lids (frustrating, but we'll be back). Another one we didn't even get to hunt because right as one buddy found it, I'd found the other. The last site had early 1800s buttons and some very interesting bits. And we still have more of the property to "selectively hunt." Probably only got two-thirds of it today.

Thanks BB, I searched like a madman for the rest of that shoe buckle.. Sounds like you guys are on a good spot. Anxious to see what comes out.. Don't you hate those sites that had early occupation but there's so much new trash on them that it turns out to be a dead end.

Nice finds

The 71 is a good one to find. I have a few of those sling type buckles. Didn't know they dated that early.

I agree Cru, I told Jeff that I thought it to be a Canadian coin myself
