I discovered a field of 'just' 24 acre with signs of roman occupation. It took me one afternoon to roughly figure out the most promising area. Yesterday we started gridding with 3 detectors for 4hrs. It took a while for the first roman artifacts. The first good find was on me, a nice terret ring. Soon after my buddy dug a beautiful amimal brooch with a bull. Coins were rare and i still didn't know exactly how to read this site. During my first raid on this field i dug a medieval strap end and two silver coins. One is toast the other is a 1806 III Stuber. Yesterday i dug VIII Heller Cologne 1576 and a beautiful medieval Denarius probably 13th C. Still not IDed properly, seems to be rare. I completed the silver run through 2000 years today with a Roman Denarius. I need Cru Dad's help for ID here. :dontknow: Didn't find a match....
Another first class find is the whatsit with a dog face/theatre mask.
Oldest find is a frag of a Neolithic flint blade, youngest and most delicious find was a bucket full of fresh harvested potatoes. :hello2:

Thanks for looking!

I agree with Cru's attribution in post #5.
Here's another example of that coin with additional historical information:

Servius Sulpicius AR Denarius. Rome, 51 BC. Laureate male head right, SER behind, SVLP before / Naval trophy, naked and bound captive on right, draped figure looking on to left. Crawford 438/1; Sydenham 931; Sulpicia 8. 3.56g, 20mm, 5h. Near Extremely Fine. Rare. Ex Freeman & Sear 14, 21 June 2007, lot 376. The reverse type may celebrate the achievements of P. Sulpicius Galba Maximus who was proconsul in Greece during the war against Philip of Macedon in 209-8 BC. He was responsible for leading the Roman fleet into the Aegean sea and capturing Aegina; hence the naval trophy would refer to the destruction of the enemy fleet, and the prisoner to those captured during the battle. Cf. Livy XXVII, 5-6.

Quite the span of years you found. Keep hitting that area because chances are good you'll find more relics.

I cant decide which one is more awesome, the republic denarius or the medieval silver.
I love medieval silver.
I have looked through about 30 webpages with hundreds of medieval silver coins and none have matched.
I think the medieval coin would be between 1100-1200 the later ones are already finer, the big eyes and bulky figures make me believe it is earlier than the 1200's...

Congrats on those awesome finds! Good work.
I too am struggling to work out which I like more. Problem is we don't have the facts to make up our minds. I've asked someone to help (just PMed them).

I agree it looks to have very early elements in it, I hope its a really early one, that would be very nice.

Getting closer.
With the King on one side & a religious figure on the reverse, but you need to find the reverse with the figure holding the 'Key'. (I think St Peter)
