I discovered a field of 'just' 24 acre with signs of roman occupation. It took me one afternoon to roughly figure out the most promising area. Yesterday we started gridding with 3 detectors for 4hrs. It took a while for the first roman artifacts. The first good find was on me, a nice terret ring. Soon after my buddy dug a beautiful amimal brooch with a bull. Coins were rare and i still didn't know exactly how to read this site. During my first raid on this field i dug a medieval strap end and two silver coins. One is toast the other is a 1806 III Stuber. Yesterday i dug VIII Heller Cologne 1576 and a beautiful medieval Denarius probably 13th C. Still not IDed properly, seems to be rare. I completed the silver run through 2000 years today with a Roman Denarius. I need Cru Dad's help for ID here. Didn't find a match....
Another first class find is the whatsit with a dog face/theatre mask.
Oldest find is a frag of a Neolithic flint blade, youngest and most delicious find was a bucket full of fresh harvested potatoes.
Thanks for looking!
