WTG!  I have noticed that a lot of the Portland parks may not be completly hunted out....but very slim pickings!  I am moving on to private property (with permision) to try and get old coins...A lot of detectors swinging on public land here in Portland.

Yes, I believe your right. Lots of people say they are all hunted out. I find it amazing at how crappy a deeper silver coin can sound in this soil around here. There's still stuff there. It's just not quite as easy as it once used to be.

I too, spend most my time out on private properties any more.
Here's a pic of a find from the same park just two weeks ago.

Neat find, even if it had no coins in it.
Great job.

Unfortunately it is the same everywhere nowadays.... I dont do public parks. Schools are a waste of time.

I know what you mean.  All I have got from public places in Portland in the last 13 trips out have been a total of 8 weaties...oldest is 1925.

I got 2 today just from a 10' x 10' area that wasnt fenced at a tear down house.

I'm in Aloha, Oregon as well. I've spent a lot of time on a larger private property there in Forest Grove over the last couple of years.
