last hunt of the year...a few keepers

Well, this is it. Went for a quick hunt then cleaned off the etrac and put it to bed for the winter Managed to get an odd buckle (this is the second one of these from this field), a Tombac button, musketball, two ringer bullet and the loop from the top of a pocket watch. Gave it a little rub with my thumb, and the silver is gleaming through. Thanks for looking and HH

Well, if ya'll ever get tired of sharing cruise and vacation stories I would really love to know how old and what the buckle is and was used for in it's day. Smittyman found one exactly like it this past Friday. Not too shabby for the last hunt of the season. If you guys aren't opposed to roughing it you're welcome to come down to NC for a visit. I have some woods behind my house on my property with a nice spot to pitch a tent. I even have a tent you can borrow. Just bear in mind there was no CW activity in this area and I promise you will not find any Colonial ANYTHING here. But you are welcome to come down and we'll get out and do some door knocking and see if we can find any silvers.

I was told that the buckle is a harness buckle, but I have no idea on age. I'd really love to know too. Colonial sites are great if you have the opportunity, but just getting outside in the fresh air is what it's all about for me. I'm just lucky enough to live in an old town.

I don't think I'd like a cruise ship, no where to detect and I'd feel like I was trapped. I'm too scared to gamble with my addictive personality I'd end up losing everything. For three k I could fly to Florida and metal detect all day and night, land and sea. Of course thats just for me, I'm enjoying a little alone time at this juncture of my life. I'm still very capable of digging here in Jersey, I'm still working on some permissions I think I'll be able to hunt soon.

First of all, my apologies to ~ACE~ for taking his post where it had no intention of going.

And, thanks for the thought Treb, but "luck" hasn't been any problem for me. It's just life. It simply plays
out in different ways for different folks because each "folk" is different. LOL

As far as my "lot" is now? How many out there can say they can go any time, anywhere and hunt for as long as they feel? Being alone too, I know of that pain but I'm also aware that I'm not bridled with what "comes with" not being alone. Of the two, I think I prefer alone.
I've been studying to be a hermit all my life! LOL Now, I've just graduated.

And to beez0404? I don't much like tents, but I could sleep in my car. LOL I love NC. Used to visit every summer! Maybe, one day.
