Here are some pictures of the LC Pocket Spill I found on April 19th 2008 during the DFXonly hunt in Ohio.

Myself and Don had been working a steep hillside near an old swimming hole. After about an hour i got a hit and pulled up a LC.
After scanning the hole again there was another coin still in the hole, I popped out another LC. After filling the hole I moved about a foot away and got another signal, Dug down about 5 inches and 2 more LC's were down in the hole.. 2 holes 4 coins..
All the LC's had a date of 1830..

Wow, that is neat.
You have to appreciate living in a part of the states that has some history to it,
so you can find the older coins.

Here in California, there just aren't that many old coins around,
it being a 'younger' territory.
Oh, well - - I'll have to settle for the fact we have GOLD in these here hills!
:D

That is truly a great find! It is my guess being that the coins are all dated 1830, that they were intentionally buried. Perhaps someone going for a swim placed them in a shallow hole? I would say it was a cache, not a spill. Just a guess.

Very Nice finds, I've been waiting for warmer weather, to hit one of my old favorite swimming holes. This place also has been a swimming hole since the 1800's and I doubt if it's ever been detected. Hope I do as well as you. It's twenty miles out of town and then two miles up the tracks from an old turn of the century logging community.

Dave,
That is very cool. Those are better than a dateless SLQ? True?

Those LC's are in great condition. Very Sweet.

Those are really nice finds, pocket dumps only get better when the coins are old like yours.

I'm prob. stating the obvious, but given their exc. condition and same date, I think they were nearly-new coins when they went into the ground. Love 'em.

I'm still looking for my first LC. They're scarcer one state north of Tusk-o-Saur, OH.

Since they are all the same date I assume that guy had either just gone to the bank or just got those in change after buying something. They were probably nearly new when lost. Way to go on the large cent pocket spill.
