What are thumb scrapers? I'm pretty new to most of this stuff.

Small usually teardropped scrapers. Uniface and thicker on one end then the other. Nice scrapers on that coin.

I spose it is because it appears they would be held between the thumb and and index finger in use. They are often much smaller than other scraper types.

What were they used for?

I would say they were used for various small scraping jobs. Possible taking the small bits or areas of flesh off of a hide that larger implements left behind. Or flesh of bone perhaps.
