I dug a large George Washington button while on a hunt near Salisbury NC with a great group of guys Saturday. I wasn't sure what I had found until NC Joe dipped it into a half frozen horse trough to remove the dirt. Thanks to Jamie for setting up this hunt, the land will be sold soon and any chance to recover relics will be slim.


Hmmm, not on the banner yet? Get to see a lot of the birds but very few of these types posted here. Figured this would have hit the banner in a shot.

Oh well, it's a nice example. Glad you caught it before it got buried for a millenia. Keep looking hard in that area. Seems you have a nice spot to excavate.

Can you post a shot of the reverse, is it a struck through variety, which would make it a rarer R-6?

This is my first time replying to a post so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or not ... but there's more to that button than what meets the eye .....in fact there is an amazing story ...if you like 'll explain it to you

Killer find, I was just telling another member that there isn't many of those or any other kind of George Washington Buttons found in
