I am usually detecting colonial sites but some of them span over to the middle and late 19th century so sometime I find Civil War period relics. That was the case today. Dug my first script "I" button, a general service eagle button, a couple of two piece cuff civilian buttons with a starfish style design. I believe the other item is a carved piece of lead fashioned into a pencil. I've seen others posted before but I might be wrong.

While some members might be disappointed in just finding CW-era artifacts rather than older ones, I'm certainly not one of them. Nice recoveries, especially the pencil.

Sweet finds! Personal CW finds like the pencil, or CW finds in general are hard to beat IMO. Thanks for sharing[emoji106]

HH, Relic Nut

Thanks for the comments everyone! Sorry if I gave the impression that I was disappointed with these finds. Actually I was quite excited - especially for the script I button and carved lead pencil. I was only stating that I was expecting colonial relics and found CW relics. I'll take these finds anyday!

Hey Dan, I was detecting around Raleigh when I found these. I'll be headed back down your way this weekend if you feel like getting out.

I know you love the oldies but those are some very nice finds brother. Hope you get out a lot this summer.

Thanks Abe, I do have a special interest in colonial relics but it is always nice to dig some (first for me) CW relics. I think I'm getting wimpier in my older age. Battling the ticks, copperheads, and the dense brush of summer seems more like work these days. But if I find a good productive site I somehow forget about those annoyances.
