I plan on detecting this week in the northwoods of Wisconsin. I friend of mine has a cabin on a lake there. I have found one map of 1850 and the town was there. He is just looking for old tokens from the lumber company that was there. He has located some old foundations by the lake and an area where an old bridge was. Do you think I should search in relic mode around this area? I have a Garrett 1350?
Thanks for your input ahead of time.

I'd search in "all metal disc. mode"

not

true all metal "non motion mode"

but

if there is a lot of junk,

then

search in relic mode to cut down on small iron bits, and nail finds.

Sounds like an excellent area to hunt!

Keep us posted!

Hi,
So, your friend is looking for lumber tokens? Did he have any luck? I just purchased Trantow's book on lumber tokens. It's a great guide for US lumber tokens/values. I hope to find some lumber tokens when I go to the UP of Michigan.

Yes, What part of Northern wisconsin? I grew up in Bayfeild county [Washburn] and we had a cabin on the Eau Claire lakes area.
