Over the years I've found many marbles, including dozens of clays, and even most of the clays are only slightly out of round. This morning I found this dark blue with swirls marble that I could feel immediately was a bit lopsided. Sure enough, I put it on a flat surface and watched it wobble! I don't know much about marbles, except that I enjoy finding them, but I'd like to know if it's common for a glass marble to be lopsided like this. I'm sifting an old area that's difficult to detect because of the plantings; it's in front of an old porch and I expect to find marbles and old coins (only a 37 wheat, so far). This is part of a yard where I've found dozens of old coins, including a large cent and 19th century silver. I also found a painted clay the other day but I'll have to post that when I find something else of interest!

It's common to see lopsided machine made marbles. A lot got culled at the factory, but they come down the rollers so fast that not all rejects get caught.
