Lucky #13!

I got a reprieve from the weather today and went back to my favourite site where I was rained out of yesterday. I've found just about everything at this site except cannonballs...until today! Four years ago a cannonball was my "top of the list" find and now this one makes 13! Seems I can't go anywhere without digging these now...oh well, it's a good "problem" to have!

Also got what may be a piece of bar shot though it is unlike the other I found at a different site...probably just random farming iron. Got a Geo II and a 1941 Wheatie to finish the day.

The balls I've found in unworked areas are deep but this one was in a worked field and was practically on the surface.

Sweet...nothing wrong with those iron problems…got out today with some old finds but nothing I will post…my detecting buddy pulled out a 4 pounder not far from me…I'm sure I'll get out one more time and more of those round balls will make it under our coils…it was cold up here today..

Yep...I'm still waiting for the feeling to come back to one of my toes...can't wait to get back out!!

Your cannonball is a really great find! I know, by now they're probably not as exciting to find. But for those of us who will probably never find one that is a super find. You should lay them out in a circle and weld them together and display them that way. Certainly nobody would steal that honker! LOL

Numb fingers, and toes does take away some of the fun, I know.

Not a day in 14 years has the rain stopped us, so not thinking that will be an issue!
