Found this in WI on a lake Michigan beach. The exterior is very iron stained and had some interesting metallic looking sections to it so I split it and this is what is inside. The black mineral snaps to magnet, has a grey streak that seems to be brittle as it left a lot of metallic flakes on the streak plate. Thought I saw some blue iridescence at times reflecting from the black mineral but might have been a reflection of the light source I was viewing it under, I cannot seem to see it any longer. I also see some pyrite in the rock.

So its a quartz, magnetite and pyrite rock....right?

I am going to snap a couple more images as I wasnt happy with the others except for the one posted is ok.

Thx.

Yup thats what you have there fuss. The picture is pretty good, I can see all the definition. The blue sheen is common with fresh fractures on magnetite and all your tests are positive for it. The quartz and the pyrite is apparent and the rusty rind is also a good indicator for the pyrites as they decompose.
