Chupacabra!!!!!
Yeah they're still a few out there that like their coyote fur. Ol Broadway Joe raised a few eyebrows at Superbowl 50. The result of his appearance wasn't all that negative on the fur coat industry.I feel bad to that poor coyote, and yeah, I would have put him down
just to stop his suffering.
Coyotes are about the most adaptable predator in the country. They
have gradually spread East over the past few decades, and the eastern
coyotes are larger, have a more squared off jaw, and can become
more aggressive than their western cousins.
The coyote population rises and falls based on the available food
supply. A female in a food-rich area might have 6 or more pups,
whereas the female in a area with little food may have only a
couple pups, or none at all.
What you all think of as the "Alpha" male is really just a male
that has a mate and pups. Coyotes don't generally follow a wolf
pack style of hierarchy. When the female has the pups, the male
will stay in the area, protecting a wider and wider range as the
pups get older and begin to venture out. The male also does most
of the hunting.
The fur market is definitely down for most furbearers, but western
coyotes are still bringing $50-$75 when properly presented, with
Russia as the major buyer.
