Had to make the arduous drive to Reno (7.5 hrs) to check on the house and fix any winter damage. Everything was actually in pretty good shape when I got there, so I decided to spend yesterday out at one of my favorite NA artifact sites. When I got out there I could immediately see that there has been significant erosion over the winter.

In just a few minutes of looking I came across this awesome sight!

I love when they leave an imprint in the ground!

Next up was this:

Darn, it got dinged.

Another lovely sight, but it looked dinged also:

After a few more finds that I didn't photograph because I had flicked them up out of the dirt, I saw this ghostly image. I was saying out loud "please, oh please have a tip".

And it sure did!
Again with the imprint in the soil too!

This local chalcedony is my absolute favorite material!

The day's finds, and definitely one of my best hunts ever!
Elko Eared are one of my favorite types, and to find three whole ones in a day is a first for me.

Back in Vegas now, so my posts will all be from md'ing until I head back up north for the summer.
Thanks for looking and good luck with all your hunts!

Oh, forgot to add this pic of the petrified wood Elko:

Those are sure some wonderful gem points. Over the last 30+ years I spent many a mile traversing the wide open spaces of mostly central and northern Nevada for work. I stop at times to search and even for a few nice points. The access of fine materials could be found all over that country. Those days of my travels through the basin and range lands are now pretty much over, as I've decided to take it a bit easy at this stage. Who knows maybe I'll just one day get behind the wheel and head out and take my sweet time and spend more of it looking rather than driving all those hours to get from minesite to minesite within the time I had. I know the type of country you were searching and I sure wished I had more time when was traveling through that time and space out there where many times hardly a soul can be found other than the spirits and what they've left behind from long. ago. Your post prompted me to review some of the pictures I've taken when I was going out there. Taking pictures didn't involve a lot of time. Just stopped for a moment and admired the site, snapped a shot and moved on.

It's mighty pretty country for sure.
If you ever make it out for some leisure time, be sure and let me know!

I stopped once at this historic roadside place out on hwy 50. It's a place you can camp far from anywhere. To me it looked like a very pleasant camp spot far from all the noise under a big night sky full of stars.

That whole area around Austin is just incredible. Such varied terrain with pinion forests, stands of huge mountain mahogany, many hot springs, ghost towns, etc.
I only go out there when I'm not going to be rushed to leave.
