Nice pic, now it matches you avatar! Love those mountains, that's why I live here as well. I wouldn't trade a day here for 3 months in Florida.

I'm over in N. E. Arkansas. We're almost on top of Crowley's Ridge. Lots of good hunting around here too. We have an old stage couch stop/lay over, and an old school from about 1850. It belongs to a friend of mine.
I'm just waiting for colder weather before I MD it. There's rattle snakes over 6 foot out there,and chiggers and ticks. It will be there for me. The owner told me it's an old part of the old military road. I went up and looked at it.The cisterns and foundation are still there...it should be fun to MD.
Fossis, the closest I've been to you is Mountain View, Ark. I love it in the hills......but hubby won't move or I'd be living up there. LOL.

Yeah Tom, I said thanks, maybe I didn't push post,
My 'Forgetter' is the best thing I have, the only thing it
was brighter, but lost all the fluffy clouds.

I've never been up in the Northeast part of Ar, I am from
Scott co. originally, but have been in Ok for the last 25 years
or so, I need to get around and see that part of AR.
I remember the old song 'Arkansaw', singing about Crowley's
ridge.

fossis, love that part of the state. Should have hollered at ya last fall. I was more or less in your neck of the woods last fall. Did a bit of detecting and panning on the Kiamichi just outside of Antlers. One thing about Okla. is that you can go from hills (we call 'em mountains-LOL) to plains to desert and arid salt plains to miles and miles of nothing and back to the hills without leaving the state.

BTW, welcome to the Mugs. Love those fluffy clouds too.

Well...now that you mention it, my forgetter is gettin pretty good. You probably did thank me. Sorry about that. And you are right, the fluffy clouds did suffer. I'll ask next time, before I make adjustments :)

Hey Stoney, yeah we have a diverse mix in OK, it's
hard to explain, unless you see it in person.
Did you go to the Arkoma hunt? I was planning on it, but
didn't make it, it was down on the Kiamichi.

I was born on a farm very near to the Forest, & we
made our living in the Timber, I was a logger, mule-
Skinner, worked on the farm, hauled hay, herded
cattle.
My Great-Grand-Father also hauled timber on his
horse drawn wagon.
When Theodore Roosevelt established the National
Forest, it was called the Arkansas National Forest, it
covers nearly 1.8 million acres in E OK & W AR.
I have been blessed to have lived here in this
beautiful area, no one can ever take away my
memories of swimming, fishing, camping, riding
horseback, big full moons, coon hunting, whip-0r-wills
calling, the smell of honeysuckle vines, eating big,
juicy blackberries warm off the vine, the warm earth
between my toes in a freshly plowed garden, catching
fireflies, ( we called them lightning bugs).
Picking up a stone projectile point that had not been
touched by another human in 5,000 years, finding
fossils from coal mines that are 'Ancient'.
The smell of new mown hay, the taste of Mama's
fresh peach pies at lunch time, sitting on a log, deep
in the beautiful Ouachita mountains.
I am a very wealthy man.

Wow, Fossis, BAD A$$ picture...Love the scenic backdrop...We called them lightening bugs too....Looks like you had a great place to grow up...Have you ever been to Mena, Arkansas, or DeQueen, on top of the mountain??? We used to go on Vacation there every year when I was a child...Thank you for posting it...........
