Hunted an old campground in the mountains of wyoming today and found this interesting merc. It isn't convex like some I've seen but has solder and an indentation were the hoop was. The face seems to be textured somehow and there are several gouges as well. Sure wish I knew the story behind it but silver none the less, and my first merc ! Thanks for looking ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1436667404.692926.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1436667415.927625.jpg

Back before I knew better- I used to dome mercs and solder a ring on the back using a relatively low melt solder called "stay brite "
it looked a lot like the "solder" I'm seeing in your picture. I may well make buttons out of obsolete silver coins again - using
worn , common date coins , but I'll use a high temp. , and high percentage Silver alloy solder so the ring will be "married" to the
coin for life ! Nice Find .
