Minelab explorer xs

Greetings I recently bought a used minelab explorer xs. It was used very little and is in great shape. I used it on the beach the other day it worked good. I put in my car then took it out a few days later to use. It would not turn on. I checked the batteries first . Both "aa" and rechargeable. Voltage checked good.. I opened the box to see if anything was obviously broken,saw nothing, no moisture or condensation . Very clean.... Just wont turn on. Any advise on possible cause or fix? Thanks. Jeff
