Minelab GPZ 7000 question

We spend a great deal of time in Rye Patch, NV using Garrett ATX Pro detectors.

Giving serious consideration to buying the Minelab GPZ 7000.

At $8000 it's quite the investment!

Anyone here running this detector?

We don't mind spending the 8 grand if it would increase the amount of gold we are finding.

If you have the money to blow and got good ground it will pay for itself pretty quick.

Good detector on "low conductive nuggets" - small, flat, crystalline, spongy, airy chevrons, porous nuggets, quartz species, and the like.
Hunt in high yield setting and Normal ground setting for max depth, and hit all your old "patches".
The old gpx minelabs took the weight out of the patches and were very good at hitting on the solid slug gold, but you should be happy digging the smaller bits they left behind.

You can get a GP 5000 for way less and work you way up too.

The key is knowing how to use the "Zed." When you purchase it, the dealer should give you a full day in the field, teaching you how to use it properly. There are two dealers in Arizona that I can personally recommend.

IF you have patches where you have found gold before its a nice cleanup detector. You actually almost cant run this detector wrong in the settings if you stay close to the factory presets.. Like I mentioned above the main setting that will impact depth the most in running in Normal ground mode verses Difficult mode, if the soil conditions allow. In your area you will suffer from the conductive Alkali groaning when the soil gets wet. Anyway cool detector for the right ground.
But if just getting started and fairly new to detecting, its probably a very bad investment.

We've been running the Garrett ATX Pro's for quite some time and are happy with them.

But most everyone it seems says to go with the Minelab.

Rye Patch has low mineralization and we have discovered areas that haven't been hit hard especially with the higher-end detectors.
