Minelab Vanquish 340, Tesoro Silver uMax, Compadre, and BH Tracker IV.

Ex: White's Spectrum XLT, Tesoro Cutlass II Umax, and that circa late 70's red handled junk from RadioShack that started it.
NiMH AA with more than 2500 ma should work fine. Also consider the newer Li-ion rechargeables (make sure charger is capable of charging those). A smart charger with slow/low/trickle charge option would be good for them for the long run.

The minelab vanquish 440 uses 4 (AA) batteries. Has anyone tried rechargeable batteries? Do they provide same power performance as disposable?
When I got the V540 a couple of years ago, a charger and four-AA rechargeable Minelab batteries were included. Been using them and never had any problems. I can usually get three or four, 3-hour hunts out of them before I feel a need to recharge them. It takes 4-6 hours for a full charge. Hope this helps!

I use nimh rechargeables. Battery life is less. I get about 4 or 5 hours in my 440. But performance is just as good. I just keep a spare set charged and ready when I go out.

Good smart charger recommended. Not just a timed charger. Nimh don't like being overcharged.

Forgot to mention... top them off the day before you go out. They do lose some charge after sitting for a week.
