A few more little reasons why I love metal detecting. It allows me to go out into nature and observe the beauty around me. I was metal detecting by a dry creek in a small town in my area when I heard something snorting at me. I looked up and these small deer were watching me curiously from across the creek bed.

:) They showed no signs of being fearful so I had time to get my camera out of my treasure/trash pouch and snap this photo of them. They lingered there, watching me, until it was time for me to move along and keep detecting.

I've had deer watch me hunt arrowheads just like that before. I didn't even know they were there until I heard a whispering snort sound. They seem to know your preoccupied and not out to pray on anything.
