More finds from Colorado mining town. Silly Possum!

Glad I got out for a few hours, more keepers than I am used to. A really great hunt for me! 2 toasted indians, silver spoon, walthem watch case, Good luck token, 2 alluminum tokens ( E R Lang Sterling KS, and a Cripple Creek Club) Leadville ice Palace, Pabst match case. Stacy Adams co shoehorn, silver lady, Victor, Co 4th celebration 1898, and 1 silly Possum ( any ideas? ). I went to an ally that I had been to when I first started detecting. Old ash/trash layer. Happy Hunting!!! Snow forecast for Thursday, I'll be going back there tomorrow!!!!!!!!.

I found that same possum button last year. It’s pretty cool actually, it’s a 1909 William Taft presidential campaign button. Here’s some info for you:

Thank you all for the posts!!!!! I have a permission for about 20 lots. I wandered around for about an hour an only found the spoon. I then went to the ally that is more of a dump at the edge of town. I kept popping signal after signal. The funny thing is I had hit this ally when I first started detecting! I appreciate the link J Cache! I never would have guessed!!!

Thanks ATW, I always wonder how the stuff gets where it is. Usually if there is a black crust on the stuff it's been through the fire of 1899. When I find quite a few things I think there must have been someone's dresser that burned and then it was pushed or hauled to the trash pit. I will back there today!!!

Here is a picture of a cleaned up Leadville Ice Palace !! (Taken from worthpoint) What a great place it must have been. It turns out the Lang token is unlisted in the token catalog. I'll list when I get a chance! I am still trying to read the good luck token. It is different than any others I've found!

Thanks Trezurhunter, I'm trying to figure out the good luck token and it's a Don't worry Club token from Colorado!! I can't quite figure it out yet. Compliments of american house of Colorado? These are new to me, I thought it was a boy scout token for sure.

I was just throwing laundry in from yesterday and this was in my pocket. I washed the rust off. Pretty cool little tin! I'll try to clean it more!

Nice work! my theory on the blackened stuff is that it was intentionally burned. Maybe some stuff was left in pockets of clothes burned. Even my house built in 1963 had a trash incinerator in the back yard. Back east when they find a bunch of blackened buttons all in one area, again, the clothes were burned and the buttons remain. This could be from medic camp or other reasons.

The "Dont worry club" was a religious and social movement started in the late 1800's. The movement was started on the assumption that worry was the greatest threat to a happy home life. It promoted positive thought. Most of those tokens were issued by Insurance Companies, but any business could promote the movement.
