4th visit to this park for me.
All I have been doing so far is cleaning out the basketball area well where I found that gold medallion 14 days ago, and then aimlessly wandering around the rest of the park...all with my F2 and that small hockey puck coil, too.
The Compadre and my Vaq have not had their turns as yet, but their time is coming soon.

Totals so far on my first 3 short hunts...
Tons of clad
A wheatie
That gold medallion
A 3 ringer bullet.

Surprises on every hunt, today was no different.
From two other areas in this park I found more today.
My first V nickel.
Part of the outline of Lady Liberty's head is barely there, I thought I only dug a brass slug in the field, but when I got home I looked closer and compared it to a V and it matches.
Why this thing is so smooth I have no idea, the back is even smoother, but I know what it is and it counts.

The second thing I found is even better...more gold!
Small, 2.5 grams but it says 10k and it has a nice garnet.
The wife has already taken possession of it and I don't think she will ever let this one go because she likes it so much.

I also found an earring that I thought might be gold.
It came up clean and is old because it has an old style screw back, something I haven't seen in years.
No marks, I don't really think it is gold, the rocks are not real, for sure, but it did come up super clean from a few inches deep so I will check it out, anyway.
You never know.

This ring is number 10 for this year on my ridiculous quest for 12 pieces of gold I vowed to find on Jan 1 hunting only in the dirt.
Gold target number 3 that I have dug in only the last 14 days.
Even if this earring is not gold that goal does not seem so ridiculous anymore.
I actually do have a shot at this.

Except for the basketball court I have barely touched this place.
I am not sure what exactly transpired around here in the past, but I like it.
This might turn out to be one of the greatest sites I have ever found to hunt due to the amount of great finds and the diversity of those finds on my first few short hunts mostly aimlessly just walking around with only that small coil, so far.

Guess where I will be spending a lot of time in the future?

Lovely ring! :occasion18::occasion16::blob9: With your finds of V nickel and screw-back earring, that site will produce many more groovy finds! Andi

Don't worry about the wife taking possession. You'll get your half, eventually. (The phone bill, the car bill, the maintenance bill, the mortgage, alimony, child support, etc., etc., etc. ;)

Really pretty ring...looks nice on the wife, too! My husband has found a few rings (most fakes) that I've adopted.

My first V nickle came from a town square with an old monument on it. I also didn't know what I had at first until I got it home and cleaned it up a bit. They are nice looking coins.

Nice hunt and nice finds.

Anita

Thanks.

Sure it's real.
If it is a couple of karats less than 10 that is fine.
Still gold, still counts as a gold find and the wife doesn't care.

I will test it and be sure.

Well, if that's what aimless wandering gets you, I would say just keep on doing it. That is a gorgeous ring and I can understand why it is on your wife's finger. Nice hunting.

Well, you asked what it was so I shared the info...In the usa 10K is the lowest karat for gold... This one looks plated. Anyway, congrats on a cool find!

It is gold for sure.
Grant you it could be 9K or 8k coming from Mexico, some people don't know much but even here in America most probably would not buy a piece with anything less than 10k stamped on it.
I understand in other countries like lots of Asian ones those people think different and look at anything less than 18k as junk and would never buy or wear anything that is not at least that purity.

Maybe the pics might make you think it's plated...but it's not.
Maybe you see some dark spots but they are because of shadows, nothing more.
No indication of any plating whatsoever on the sides, edges, anywhere.
In real life it looks gold as gold can be.
If I took a pic of this ring in sunlight it would look different and ...even better!

Here are some I just took outdoors with a better idea but no sun today.
It is scratched up pretty good in spots, but that's it.

I have a Panasonic DMC ZS6...and I love it.
It takes great regular and macro pics, high quality movies, too.
The lighting is just a high intensity desk lamp
I am lazy, one day I will figure out something even better when it comes to lighting because sometimes I have too many shadows and the colors could be off, but it works for now.
