I cant believe it either
old time friend lurker has been reading that I have been go out deep at older spots and pulling in the gold
he dropped me a line and told me I should hit tiny spot he has hit for years and is clean in close
BUT - he says he has never gone out past 5 feet at low tide and that I might get some out far there
He was right - I did not get a ton of finds - but got 2 more old gold for the effort
I worked over 4 hrs to get what I got but it was worth it
red stone looks like a ruby - and got excited to see that the class ring-1931- had its emblem still
(found so many with them missing)
silver quarter was down really deep
moved a huge piece of iron and rechecked - found buffalo under it
wish toy sled was intact -
dont know who would have worn that huge brouch in the water
maybe woman had it on one of those 1890 style suits

I have found so many crusty coins this yr - gave up cleaning them right now - usually I would use
electrolysis - but they come out thin - so been leaving them as is for now

Awsome gold! I have only one piece of gold in 8 years of metal detecting. Mine is an old 14K mens wedding band.

I been saltwater hunting areas way out - 5-6 feet with mask and snorkel
and a few spots even deeper with snuba system
all of these spots gave up a lot of gold to a lot of hunters over the yrs in close
I decided this year to take it to another level - out far - out deep
its working
many of these spots had floating platforms
you hit path swimmers would have taken to get out there and back
or find the old moorings - your gonna find older gold
a lurker friend of mine has been doing the same at fresh water spots -and he's been
making a killing too

That ring with a stone is a real jaw dropper. Envious once again! Btw I hit my one cookie coin with the back of a spoon and that casing cracked. Quick and it was good enough because they are thin and beat as you said.

Did you actually find a matching set of earrings? I've never done that before.....I take that back......I found a pair in the dry sand that were attached to each other but not separately. What are those rectangle looking items? A strap cinch or buckle of some sort?

was wondering - what earrings? - those are spinners off a lure
those other items are brass bathing suit buckles - back in the day when men wore a tank top and short type trunks
I would say pre 1940's mostly back to the early 1900's - some are off woman one piece bathing suits too
simple lite belts that were made to keep outfit tight against the waist so they dont ballon in the water
everywhere I have found those - I get old silver & old gold
you'll find them in fresh and salt water spots up here
a lot of times these are found in areas where there were floating raft - think about it -
you swim out and try sliding out of the water onto the raft
just like you would a pool and instead of using a ladder - you would get your upper body onto the raft and using your arms to push up - your
belt line would be against the rafts edge - right where the buckle could get caught on the wood - thats my theory
