??? I found this years ago i was cleaning house and found this weird looking stone.
Is there anyone that can help me with this ??? I don't think its a meteorite because it does not beep on my metal detector. But maybe so old that it lost its metallic field

that was my first guess.....meteorite. But they usually get a signal from detectors. But then again it couldve lost its metallic field over the years...if thats even possible. Im sure someone else can help u more than i can.

I'd say not a meteorite. I found a lot of rocks like this in Louisiana with my geology class. I just can't remember what our professor said about them. I have several at home and they are definitely not metorites. Speaking of which, did anyone catch the Perseid Meteor Shower last night? There is too much light pollution on this base to see much.

I'm certainly not an authority, but I believe that meteorites come in
2 varieties : Metal, and Stony (Stone). It could be that yours is the latter.
It sure has that burnt look.

I live in Minnesota, I went outside and tried to see it but I did'nt see anything happening, it was fairly clear outside, I could see the stars.

looking at this with a high powed mag. glass it looks to be like almost some kind of outerspace rock However it has some spots that look volcanic rock ony seen uner a powerful glass a 10x or 30 x power

Looks like a clinker to me. I don't know where the term came from, but this is what is left over when you burned coal in your heating stove. I might be telling my age but I threw a lot of them in the back yard.
