Dizzy we are working hard on getting a spot that will be for camping and digging. Have two bits of private land that are possible. There is going to be a nominal fee. That will cover giving some money to the land owner and we are gonna have to get a porta potty. There are a couple members working behind the scenes with me. As soon as we finalize some details we I will post a thread with a link to more info and method of registration. Have had a communication with the owner of tnet we are making sure we can post the thread to fit within website rules. I will say that part of the money will be given directly to someone we have all heard of that needs some legal funds. And we will be having a raffle. Hopefully next week I can post the official thread.

Goldwasher, tell TNet that I give authorization for them to delete this thread so that you can name your thread the same if you choose to do there will be less confusion and we can continue the thread names consistently each year with the next years date on the next years thread... Just an idea.

The raffle sounds awesome!
(And the porta-potty too! Hehehe!)

My biggest expense is fuel, and I'm working now to save up the
cash it'll take to make the round trip.

In case I missed it, are there any fees for camping, etc.?

Don't know how much diggin' I'll be up to, but I'm going to
borrow my buddies Bazooka Prospector and give it a hellofa
go. Hopin' for a nice picker (or two!) as I've yet to find any one
piece larger than about .05 gr. Gold Cube's probably gonna stay
home unless someone makes a good case for packing it along.

It's a long trip just for a weekend, so can anyone tell me if there
is a place close by where I can safely camp, and if anyone is interested,
do some more prospecting?

Diz,
Yea, I'd like to get a picker too! Haven't ever gotten one yet; where I go there is mostly fly poop, and small flakes if you are lucky!

I'm not sure where we will be camping for the MMB yet but I do know there are camp grounds in the Colfax and surrounding area if you wanted to come in earlier or stay later. Last time I was there I stayed at the Mineral Bar Campground ($28 per night) off of Iowa Hill Road in Colfax. It's a nice place with restroom facilities and bear boxes but no running water and best of all it right on the river, very beautiful!

I may leave Thursday afternoon to come up because with stops etc. it's about a 9 hr drive for me. But I'm ok with sleeping overnight in my car in a Walmart parking lot etc. just to get a few hours of sleep to be there for a full day of digging on Friday. YeeHaw! Mainly because I'll have to leave around noon on Sunday and want to get in as much digging time as I can for the expense. If I can come up even a day or so earlier, yes, I would love to get in some more digging time with you, maybe even split campsite fees for 1-2 nights depending on when I can get up there!

As far as the Gold Cube, I've never seen one in action other than videos so if you get the notion to bring it I'm ok with it. Hehehe! But if it's too much trouble then certainly don't bring it just for me to check it out. Okey Dokey!

I can hardly wait!!!

Well you are definitely right about that!

I already divorced the city boy who, after we were married, expected me to be prim, proper, made-up daily, do all the housework, and be subservient to him... I can tell you up front that it didn't work out! I may be from the south but I'm no dress wearing, house tending Southern Belle! THAT'S BORING! I'm more like Daisy Duke, getting my hands dirty under the hood of my car and playing in the mud, except no longer with the cut-off jean shorty-shorts. LOL!!! And yes, I do miss my jeeps, ATV's and motorcycles! I've always been a Tomboy and I consider myself to be one of the guys and treated as such. Unfortunately I've softened-up a bit with motherhood, but now that my boy is 15, I'm finding myself and true roots again. He's grown up in the city so this last year has been a task trying to get him to prospect with me, I fear it's too late but, I'll still keep trying! Maybe in 10 years he'll meet a girl that will enjoy being my sidekick!

We got a portapotty last year for the first time and left it at our claim all summer. It was nice not having to go dump tanks and everything and well worth the $110 a month. Dizzy if you want to stay at my claim on the way down it's probably 3 hours or so from where the camp is going to be on the Middle Yuba. You can pull a trailer in also.

Wait a minute Reed! You are jacking up my coming up early plans with Dizzy because I'm coming from south OC. LOL!!! Just teasing!

Whatever plan works out best for Dizzy and his long distance is what is best! Breaking up the trip most likely is a good thing!

Don't get you makeup in a dander Sherry :) hehe :). Karen & I liked your thread above, prim and propped every day... lol. Yea, No Thanks, I told Karen when we met that she didn't need makeup and into the garbage it went never to return :evil6:
That would break his day up into like 5 or 6 hours of driving past Grants Pass and then 3 or 4 more hours to the finish.

You can use the woods, I just don't want 30 people using the woods that happen to be some guys yard even if it is a big one. What happens on the other side of the river however...stays on the other side of the river8-)

Actually it is state law that you have to have either a chemical toilet or a porta-potty on a claim to use. Using the woods even though it my favorite way also, isn't legal on DFW controlled land. We maintain ours and it even has cigarette buckets outside and flowers put in by the girls to really doll it out :evil6:

Kinda seems like a contradiction doesn't it? Noooooo, you can't poop in the woods girly, use our state of the art, chemical filled room (that is entirely too small) that would take an army of government specialists to clean up if it tips, toilet! I think I'll do a scientific study (or get some grade school kid to do a science fair project on how just inhaling port a potty fumes while in one

Reed, what's DFW? I'm ignorant.

I thought it was at a campground? Or are we staying on someone's claim?
