Nice find...a piece of history! I pulled an 1856 SL about two months ago...only to find out a bit later that it was fake. Made out of lead, but boy was it a good quality fake! Gotta love the Chinese...

You can fit smaller things into bigger holes, but it's hard to jam large things into smaller holes. (That's what she said)

The 1836-1839 Capped Bust halves are .6 mm smaller than today's halves. The other ones are bigger by 1.9 mm.

Did you ever get a mintmark on that bad boy?
There is no mint mark. Its in poor shape i don't care its pretty cool to find.

Just think of the history of that coin, it could have been carried by a soldier at Gettysburg, could have been payment for a Colt peacemaker in the wild west, or it could have been the last money a family had during the depression.
