My favorite to date - War of 1812 button

Found this at a home from the 1830s. It's a button from the U.S. Light Artillery, First Regiment. After some research, I determined the "LA" fought several battles during the War of 1812, many in the local area. They were likely encamped right where the house was eventually built. Realizing this button has been in the earth for 200 years and last saw the light of day while we were still a fledging country is simply astonishing!
