I'm psyched. I found a button. It says Orange Rich Warranted on the back, the front is plain. I looked on the internet but couldn't find anything that looks like it. Can someone shed some light for me? It's about 5/8 in diameter. Someone tell me it's old!!

Nice find!

It's a civilian plain-face gilt brass button, probably c. 1820-40. "Warranted / Rich Orange" is what's called a quality backmark and refers to the finish of the metal.

Nice find! It is rare that one comes out looking as nice as that one!

Congrats on a real oldie!! By your name "Clam Digger" I have to assume you are somewhere along the east coast. What state are you in?
