Nana and I went to the old coal mining town today. We started at the old ballpark and the first thing Nana digs is a silver rosie! Got us pumped up but after about an hour of nothing but fence pieces I say...let's go into town. So we head to an empty lot between two houses in town.

We headed to the back side of the lot and after just a few minutes I see these dolls under an old tree. I climb under the privets and started pulling out dolls, a toy trolley then see this bowl of marbles. I holler for Donna to come over and about that time I pulled out a tin...the lid came off and more marbles! All of this stuff was sitting on top of the ground or just barely covered in dirt.
There were toy tanks, cars, jewelry, flatware, marbles, play money, compacts.....

I haven't had time to clean it all up but here it is....

Holy cow! You two really raked it in!

It makes you wonder, though. No tellin' what stories that stuff could tell.

Can't you just see the kids digging holes with mom's silverware? Or holding the girls' dolls hostage - just to be ornery?

Very cool!

Re: My First Cache! What a doosie!

My gosh! What an arsenal you found there!

As adults, we think of tanks guarding all that gold in Fort Knox. . . as kids, all we wanted to do was guard the dolls and marbles :)

Awesome find and congrats on the Banner. . . well earned!

Holy awesome mother load, congrats! Looks to be a good 50+ years old or more. What are some of the dates on the coins? I suppose the latest date would be close to the real age of the cache. Is a privet a privy as in outdoor toilet? Can you dig it out? HH, Mike

What a fun find. I like finding toys, but you all found a toy shop. Great stuff, good pics.

I really like the tanks.

Congrats, and thanks for posting.

Re: My First Cache! What a doosie!

A cache like that is wonderful to find, kinda' like a time capsule huh? I know most of that stuff is older, but I noticed an early model of the P51 Mustang airplane. That would have been a child's toy around 1941 or there abouts. My guess would be it was stashed around the WWII era and was in the ground all this time. Somewhere a little girl of around 70 years old is still probably wondering what ever happened to her baby dolls and brother's toys. Wouldn't it be great to find out who it was? Dang I am happy for you! M :icon_sunny: nty
