Nana and I went to the old coal mining town today. We started at the old ballpark and the first thing Nana digs is a silver rosie! Got us pumped up but after about an hour of nothing but fence pieces I say...let's go into town. So we head to an empty lot between two houses in town.

We headed to the back side of the lot and after just a few minutes I see these dolls under an old tree. I climb under the privets and started pulling out dolls, a toy trolley then see this bowl of marbles. I holler for Donna to come over and about that time I pulled out a tin...the lid came off and more marbles! All of this stuff was sitting on top of the ground or just barely covered in dirt.
There were toy tanks, cars, jewelry, flatware, marbles, play money, compacts.....

I haven't had time to clean it all up but here it is....

Re: My First Cache! What a doosie!

A few of us who got into "treasure hunting" are real treasure hunters. Sure , who wouldn't like to explore a ship wreck and find riches like the Atocha? But on the whole, I'll bet most of us were imagining finding caches like your find . I know I was and still do. It hasn't happened yet, but some day.....someday....if I live long enough and hunt long enough.......who knows. This is my second post on this topic but gosh darn, I just love this kind of find. And Nana did you find any bullets? M  nty

Congrats on the Banner, you deserve it. Those are trully fantastic finds, once in a life time finds. I think that you and Nana must of had a fantastic time digging them all up.

Re: My First Cache! What a doosie!

That one doll seems to look right at the camera both times, doesn't she?! She probably did a good job of scaring everyone else away from your treasure for maybe half a century...there was that one Twilight Zone episode...
Really, what an awesome, awesome find...and in plain view of a street!
Something tells me that maybe you had more fun finding the toys than the children had playing with them. Like Christmas!

Re: My First Cache! What a doosie!

Congrats to you both on some very cool finds! The old toys are some of my favorites, especially the tanks. Growing up as a kid , I couldn't get enough of my toy tanks and army guys ......as we use to call them. What a nice site to find................ :) :) :) HH
