Went out with a friend to a local park and found nothing but clad for a few hours. He then asked if I wanted to go to his grandpa's house for a bit, so we headed there for the last 2 hours of daylight. Ended up with a hand full of wheats and my first half dollar. He hasn't found any silver yet himself, I hope he invites me back!

Way to go its hard to beat the feeling of pulling your first big silver from the dirt.

Franklin half. That is a tough one to get usually. They were surface finds when detectors started to come out.

Congrats. :)

Now you have to reciprocate and find a good place for you two to go. :) It's in the pirates unwritten rule book.

Thanks guys. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in the hole. It was and still is very exciting. I will definitely be inviting him to a few places. Hopefully he will score too.

I've been detecting for a little over a year now. In my opinion I'm still a newbie. I'm surprised to hear franklin half's are harder to find being that it's a newer coin. I guess I never thought about the fact that they would have been easier surface finds when detecting first started. Makes me even happier to have found it. Thanks again guys. I'm new to the site so maybe I will post some more of my past favorite finds.
