I was at a hunt run by George, with a number of MDers from SE PA. Found lots of stuff, re enactor buttons, blanks, scrap, clad... But the one that got my attention was this a large coin that was really toasted. Not sure what it is. Some thought a King George, but no real definitive answer. Any ideas from the other experts here?

Thanks again George... Great hunt! Nice meeting the rest of you guys, and lady.

I should also add... Found with my ATP (83) at about 6-7 inches.

looks like a superb example of something I would love to find, no matter what kind of coin it is, just to find something that old is really cool, hope you can get it identified, sounds like a great hunt with a great bunch of guys

Looks like it may be a George 3. Can you measure it in mm and let me know(if you have calipers that is) sounds like a fun hunt

Thanks dirtlooter! Ahab... it measures 1.125 in dia x .077 thick give or take .005. I am not a coin expert by any means, but it looks like a left Facing Victoria.

Hmmm bigger than I thought you were going to say. I once found a kg3 that looked very similar but was smaller. Let me do some searching and get back to you in the a.m. Bud

Thanks Ahab. It does bare a resemblance to a 1806 as Nooberz said. I'd appreciate anything you could find out.

Yeah I thought for sure that it was an 06-07 half penny but it's too big. The diameter of those years is 29mm. The diameter of the 1799 is 30mm and yours is about 31.75. But it sure seems like the right busy size to be the 06-07. Ok headed out to find some treasure. I will get back to ya tonight

They are fun to find, sometimes they drive me nuts trying to figure out exactly what date and type. Still cool knowing it's a 200 year old coin.

Nice hunting with ya

Nice LC find congrats!

Welcome to the toasted LC club! My first LC is toasted and no readable date, unless your using a lot of wishful thinking!
I think yours is older than mine.
