I was at a local park today and found my first large cent. it's pretty toasted but I think its a coronet head. The date is in bad shape I can see 18 and the next number looks like it might be a one , you can only see the top part of the third number but it looks like the top part of the number one. The last number is completly gone. I wasn't sure if i should do anything to clean it , just soaked it in some warm water. I am fine with the way it looks , I am just glad I finally found one.

Awesome! Great job - largies are so cool to find. Nothing like that first one.

Looks like an 1831 to me. I think you're missing the 1 to the left. It also may be an overstrike, one I've not seen before.

Yep grab a small pyrex bowl and fill about 1/3 of the way place it in a micro for 70 seconds. remove carefully it will be boiling . Then drop that bad boy in. I do it about five time . must change peroxide after 2 uses . the petine will stay on coin and it will clean up nice. Rob :coffee2:

Big congratz on your first LC. I've been dirt fishing just short of a year. last week on 6-29 I found my first LC 1852. Went back the next day (same place) and found my second LC also 1852, I know the rush finding one, now you do. Keep digging and HH
