Well, I found my first purposely buried "Treasure" in the backyard of what was a 1920's homestead. I'm not sure why/when they buried these particular copper and brass items but the platters were stacked on top of one another with the cobra candleabra laying on top. The pitcher and vase were on either side of the platters about a foot underground.
Sure do wish it was gold or silver...oh well...maybe next time.

Interesting! Congrats! Most of us will never find a purposely buried treasure! Nice!

Those are some weird candle holders! I wouldn't want that staring me in the face during dinner!
Maybe if you take pics of the back of the plates and bottom of the other items there maybe a maker's mark or other info people can use to help identify them.

Odd. Maybe the loot that no one would pay anything for after a theft.

Ooooh I would want to know too what you have unearthed. It's possible if you found them in the South that someone could have buried them so the Yanks couldn't steal them.

That is too awesome, maybe do some "Digging" and you'll come across the value, unless they aren't really anything special... Still a super cool find, especially in the back yard/9

some young thief prolly burged his neighbor, hid the stuff, then grew a concience or was too afraid to retrieve it.I found a piece of cloth buried at the base of a huge pine tree in the forest...not far from edge of a neighborhood. It had 16 pieces of jewelery wrapped in it.good looking stuff too.all of it marked and NONE of it real.

I mentioned it to a sheriff deputy buddy and he wanted to check it out.I gave it all to him as it was worthless but wanted it back anyway,it was a cool find.A week later I got it all back,he thinks it was an insurance scam on a rigged burgulary or the like.I still have that bling, most marked 14k italy

I bet you will always look back at your find with a smile, very cool finds

I wonder how old this stuff is? Do any of the pieces have markings? A REAL MYSTERY,

headly , This is without question a BANNER find !!! ( I'm stunned to be the first among 16 respondents to make that statement )
This is a treasure , it is old , it is large ! and it is highly unusual to see a recovery from the ground of this magnitude !
It may be copper ,and brass, and who knows what other base metals , but make no mistake about it this is a unique
Banner find !

Very cool find!!

This reminds me of a famous silver thief. Most houses he went in and out of, they had no idea how until later on. He would run through and pick the houses, then in the weeds or somewhere under cover, pick through and only keep the silver items. NOT SAYING THIS IS what your find is. It just reminds me of him when I think of the possibilities of why and how it became buried. I don't remember his name. He hit a huge part of the east coast if I remember right.

Who knows? A cool mystery to think about and all possibilities!!!

I don't feel it's related, but a link to who I was talking about.

Great finds.
could it be that the items found were all used for secret rituals or ceremonies?
Maybe some kind of Voodoo gathering?
Maybe someone didn't want the evidence of those ceremonies found in the house.
Ahhh, the imagination could run wild with this find.
