obviously they require extended cleaning but I'm posting them anyway :)

the left one is a silver denarius, not sure yet which emperor issued it, but with proper cleaning it will shine as new, or nearly so, when I pulled it from the ground it was dark brownish, I did not even understand it was silver til I got home and started to clean it

the right one is more interesting imo, its an AS coin issued by Nero Claudius Caesar, the patina is very nice and I will keep it, all I need to is to remove the rust on the back side. The picture does not do justice to this coin as it's much greener in reality than on the pic

Absolutely smashing! I am absolutely mad about all things Roman. ;D :icon_thumleft:

the field where I found them used to be a Roman settlement in Wallonia (Southern Belgium), nothing reminds there of the Romans anymore, but the cultuvated field contains many old forged nails, pieces of bronze items and such. All these items make it hard to search for coins with all the signals of course. I have just discovered the field and will be coming back over and over and over again ;)

It would be awesome to be able to hold coins like that in your hand . You are lucky you live where there is so much history.

Great finds , keep them coming .

Sounds like you have just begun to scratch the surface of that site, and we should expect to see many more coins from you. Some of those other "non-coin" signals could be valuable Roman artifacts.

What kind of detector are you using? What depth did you find those coins at?

I'm using a simple ace 250 with a 10x14" coil which increases the depth by a few inches compared to the standard ace coil...

the silver coin was about 4" below the surface and the green coin was about 7-9 inches below
