Found this little coin right before sun down tonight. Found a 1903 IH toasted pretty bad around 2:30 today.
Left the park around 3 and picked up my daughter from school. After dinner I got to thinking about that IH and where I found it and decided to go back and just take another look see.....
Well low and behold 2 feet from that hole I get a repeatable tone and TDI.

And the reward is this little beauty.
Probably never top this but I'll sure will be out there trying................

Yes the Deus. Got it on the 16th of last month. Was using 18freq, And it rang up at 72 repeating ; would jump to 73 then right back to 72 and repeat. Thats the reason I dug it. Beaver tails and pop tops have been coming in at 74 - 79 so was pretty sure it was not one of those. I'm so glad I listened to my inner voice and went back.

Thanks, I have been trying to find a VDI on gold coins in 18kh.

You may want to get that professionally cleaned and graded. Really a beautiful coin.

Don

I totally agree. A coin of that magnitude needs a professional service and a slab. It locks down the condition so that there is no question, and actually makes the coin more valuable. Corsair: So happy for you! :hello2:

While it is a nice find, it is only a $250-300 coin at best. It is an exciting find, but not particularly rare or even in particularly high grade. It is also likely suffering from environmental damage to some degree.

Don't waste your money on professional grading. Just enjoy the coin as is. Congrats.

What is there to say that hasn't been said? Hope there's more there, but this one is rare enough for me to vote Banner! Congrats!

That is a beautiful coin, and one we all wish to find! It's the dreams of many! However, I do have to agree with jerseyben on this one...no need to get this one slabbed. You're talking probably $50 to $75 in expenses, and it really won't increase its value. Keep it as is, and get a hard plastic holder at your local coin shop.

This post seems to have slipped by a lot of people's attention. A better post title and reference to a gold coin in the post's language might have helped with it making the banner more quickly. It definitely deserves to be there and I gave it a nomination. Phenomenal find! :occasion14:
