Hello,
Managed to get out twice in the last few days since I returned home. It is cold and windy here now, but, I still seem to be finding things here and there .
Monday I went out for a couple hours before sundown. The beach photos are from then. I did not see anyone else hunting, but I did see 1 hole around where Dave from Suffolk usually puts in at. I saw a post from him from Modnay, so I know he was there . I stayed far up north then, and found a decent amount of clad. Managed what appears to be 2 silver toe rings that were 10-15 feet apart. Other than that, just clad and trash.
Wednesday I went out around sundown right as the tide was low. Walked from 7th up to 20th and turned around. I was very cold, and thought about turning south sooner, and I am glad I did not. Down around 9th or 10th st, I found this very large and neat looking pendant. Wish it was in better shape . I found a lot of trash yesterday, so when I hit a pulltab signal around 19th st, I was not surprised. I was even less surprised to get it in the first scoop - double indication of a tab. Being dark and blind, I checked the pile - kicked sand, checked - kicked, checked and kicked until I saw a small ball of "sand" that I assumed held my tab. I bent over, picked it up, and was delighted to feel something round! Next thing I did was yank out my phone and text my wife "Jackpot!" In the dark, I could not see any markings, but I was sure it was gold .
On my way home, I couldn't help looking at the ring, and was very disheartened to see corrosion. After some cursing(and a chat with VBDave who pulled up on my with his police cruiser lights a flashin) I made it home. I walked in, flashed the ring at the wife, and walked away. Did this several times as she chased me around the house to see my treasure . I finally showed her and told her I think it is fake. Here are some photos of the good loot.
Well, after much deliberation, I think I have this one figured out. The corrosion on this ring appears to be solder. This ring is really 2 rings cut in half and soldered together! The bottom and top are different colors(slightly), and are not corroded at all. So I am 99% sure that this is infact a golden ring! Well, 1 half of two different gold rings, but meh. I need to get this ring tested to be 100% certain, but it sure looks good .
Thanks for reading,
Anthony
