My Last Hunt of '07...I'm In The 3000 Wheat Club!!

Hello Everyone,

I got out today for one last hunt. I wanted so bad to get my 3000th wheatie this year. I had 10 to go, and ended the day with 11. Guess where my 10th wheat was found today? Yep, next to a palm tree. How fitting, since I made so many old coin finds next to large palms trees this year. I also found 4 more silvers. The additional silvers/wheats were from 2 previous hunts. The two Indian Heads were found at a Barrio Park (1896, 1903) last week. The large marble was found in the same hole as a 30 something wheatie. Also the wheat to the left of the marble in my pic has a steel penny that is corroded and is permanently fused to it. I have found more than a few of those this year.

So I end the year with 657 silver coins, 81 pieces of silver jewelry, and 3001 wheaties. Also about 2500 clad quarters, 46 Injuns, and a handful of V's and Buffs. I wish this year wouldn't have ended. I thoroughly have enjoyed it!! I will make a year end post in a couple of days.

Holy............! I'm not even in the same league with you Captn..it is truly amazing to me just how many coins from another time have been lost and then recovered. Your totals are outstanding, and I know what you mean..seeing this year end is kinda sad, but what great memories were made..2007 will be remembered fondly by many of us here on TNet.

May 2008 bring many more exciting adventures and discoveries to all!

That truly is a monumental year in metal detecting and im glad with this being my first year I got to see it first hand.
I look forward to seeing the whole lot piled up.

I bet the 3000 Wheats in a year club is kinda small like your the only member joined in the last 40 years.

Dan, congrats on your wilver and wheats that you found today. I always knew that you would hit beyond 650, my friend.

May 2008 be filled with many more wilver recoveries...and some more videos of your swinging style.

Geez, whoever cuts the lawns in those CALI parks needs to raise his blades. He's dicing up too many nice coins.

That's just amazing Dan. I've never heard of anyone finding that total of wheaties before. I wish I could hunt year 'round...heck I wish I could get more than 2 to 3 hours a week in ...but it just doesn't happen.
Nice job and you are definately an inspiration to all of us.

Congrats on a fantastic year!!! You know 650+ silver is impressive, but 3000+ Wheat Cents impresses me even more. I've had two years over 1000 wheats and I thought that was great, but your totals just blow me away!! I think you will have to work harder to reach those numbers next year, but I think you will hit 600 silver again, just not sure you will hit 3000 wheats!! Such a great year and in this hobby, hard work and a ton of effort pays off and your total shows a ton of commitment to hit those high goals!! Very impressed!!

What a fantastic year Dan. I was hoping you'd hit the 700 mark on your silver but 3001 on Wheat Backs is just unheard of. Congrats to a a great year! Here's hoping 2008 is even better.....

Hey, buddy, congrats on attaining your goal of 3,000 Wheaties! That is an impressive haul.

Also, congrats on hitting 657! That will probably be the record to beat! You definitely set the bar high for 2008! Now, go out and get some wiilllvers!

Thanks, Everyone, for the kind replies/compliments. Your support has meant a lot to me in '07! I could not have blown by my '07 goals if it weren't for my second family on Tnet!

I hope all of you are having a good start to the New Year. Can't believe I'm not hunting today. Well, there's plenty of time to do that this year. I'm gathering all my '07 finds up, and will make a post soon.
