Tim, congratulations on taking that first step by admitting your
problem. We here understand that addiction well, and are here
to support and encourage you in every way.

Fortunately, there is no cure for this addiction...

Best treatment I know of is to get a pan in your hand, a
bucket of dirt/soil/gravel/sand or ?? in the other and
sit down at the panning tub for a couple hours.

Have to admit, there have been desperate times when
I've gone and dug up a bucket of dirt from my gravel driveway.
Found gold in it too! :occasion14:

Hoping you feel better soon....8-)

HI Tim! My name is Jeff and I'm a mining addict. Digging, classifying, sluicing or panning, it doesn't matter as I love it all. I have managed to get out of a charge of destruction of public property brought on by my addiction by pleading insanity. "Your Honor, I'm just crazy about that stuff!" Judge dismissed the case because it turned out he had several claims himself.

I am of course just kidding about being charged. You have to admit though, it sure sounded good!

I'm not sure where you're located at Tim, but the only suggestion I can make to get through the "down time" is to use part of your normal season to stockpile materials at the house to get you through it. I'm lucky in that the weather here rarely prevents getting out to mine. Just one advantage of being a desert miner. When it gets hot I just change to the "Night Shift". Couple of flood lights and I keep on truckin.......

Reminds me of a poem I once wrote.....

Gold Fever
by GoodyGuy~

I've a sickness that can't be cured
And a fever that can't be broken

I must find gold or as feared
I'll burst and I'm not joke'n

The only thing that'll fulfill my dream
and keep me from gettin' old

Is bein out there on any ol' stream
and pannin' for yellow Gold

I'll hunt and pan and sluice all year
and when the truth be told

The only cure that I'll hold dear,
is when I hit that motherlode.

GG~

it could be worse --it could be alcohol ,drugs and gambling....as an addiction. as in ---- darn it left my bottle of wiskey at the crack house on the way to my sleeping spot under the bridge when coming back from the casino.(so I guess I'll have to use this old pie pan I found to pan some more gold under the bridge at the creek .)
