So I recently purchased an AuRacle gold tester and have been testing some items that I have held onto from estate sales and garage sales that looked like gold but we're unmarked. One of those items happened to be a button. This button came out of a wooden shoebox full of old buttons that I had purchased last year for a couple bucks. Here is the button....

Now here is the kicker....
As I was testing the button and was holding it in my fingers, I inadvertently applied some pressure to the inside of the button and felt it shift. As I applied a little more pressure, out popped the button and I had this 14k beauty laying in my hand!:headbang:

Take care and happy hunting!

So interesting. I kind of think they weren't put together on purpose. Probably the ring fell into the button box at some point, the button was the right size to wedge itself in the ring, and there it stayed. Lucky you to find it.

That's one of the more unusual treasure discoveries I've seen in a while. :treasurechest::icon_thumright:

What a clever way to hide a ring and you were even more clever to discover it!

Exactly what I was thinking. The fit is beyond perfect like a machine fit! Somebody was digging around in the box to find the right button and didn't realize they lost their ring I guess.

Still using acid test...

strick

You know I just got tired of using acid and many times the tests would be inconclusive (for me anyways).

Thats crazy about the ring. I wonder if it was placed in the box and the button just found it's way into the ring or was it done deliberately? I'd want to see the Auricle in action before spending that amount of $ on one. I don't find the acid test to be that inconvenient.
