Great machines, Terry, but buy, and wear, a back brace. They're murder on your back, though I guess the newer ones have some front suspension.

The Rokon Ranger is the only street-legal version they make... legal in all states except CA. No surprise there. 218 pounds, and it FLOATS! It floats because of the oversize tires and sealed wheel rims. You can fill the rims with extra gas or water. It will pull 2000 pounds and climb a 60% grade! I believe the U.S. Forestry uses them because of the very light footprint, said to be less damaging than a person's footprints. Yes! I like my Rokon! ╦╦C

Would you believe, back in the day, that the Ranger I had only weighed 185lbs? Had that little 10hp Chrysler industrial 2-stroke. No suspension, either. Dave and I had a pair. Took them sheep hunting, prospecting....all over the darn place. But, we eventually got tired of the sore backs and sold them. Also, the Forest Service started outlawing offroad travel, so their usefulness declined.

A friend of mine had one of the older models and like you said you can carry extra water and gas in the rims. Looks like you will be able to get into some rough terrain with out too much trouble. Maybe take some ibuprofen before you get too far back into those hills?

Scary thing about those Rokons...they can take you back in there where it's too far to walk out.

This is the BIG BOY of Rokons. With $540 delivery charge, $9000! Other models are cheaper but I wanted the street possibilities. ╦╦C

Yeah I saw it has turn signals and a place to mount a tag and you mentioned it as being able to license. It's gotta have pretty good top speed I would think so your not put'n along obstructing traffic. Also it it sounds like a 4 stroke. I know the early Rokons were 2 stroke with a top end of 12 mph Ibelieve. My dad managed bulk fertilizer throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois for IMC potash in the late 1960s and early 1970s. One of his distributors up in Minnesota if I recall had him a Rokon dealership. I would go on the road with my pop in the summertime and we stopped to see that fella with the Rokons and he showed how he could drive it up into the bed of a pickup without a ramp. He also had some old 40s junk cars behind his shop and he showed how he could ride up on the front of the of the car over the top and down the back bumper. Heck I was probably around 12 or 13 years old at the time when I first witnessed a Rokon. Hopefully you'll discover that long lost gold mine out far and away in the middle of nowhere in the Arizona desert.

They had a top speed of about 35mph, Grant. Had a 3 speed gearbox that you had to stop to change gear ranges. Once in a particular range the variable pulleys took care of the speed and torque. Low range, the speed was slower than you could walk. You could walk beside it with full torque capability to carry the load. Super machines....except for that aching back...LOL

Terry, the video you took of me made me look fat, of course it's possible that the 20+ lbs I've gained since the shutdown had something to do with it :tongue3:

Go for the Gold :3barsgold:

Miss listening to Art Bell and traveling through the night going from town to town. The CB would go kinda quiet when he came on the radio.

Do both wheels drive or just the back? Never heard of this machine until now. Gary
Yes, both wheels are drive wheels. 2 wheel drive cycle. 4 stroke. 208 cc. 37mph. Because it is two-wheel drive, if you put it up against a wall, the front tire will climb that wall until it falls over backwards, if you let it!! ╦╦C
