Went for a short trip this morning here in South Jersey. Dug a lot of trash and some clad coins. Then I got a real deep, faint 80 on my AT Pro. Dug down and found this. Thought it was a largie at first but cleaning it up it looks like a mans bust. Hard to tell and do t want to clean much and ruin it. Can't make out much detail on back. King George possibly? If anyone can help and date I'd appreciate it. Thanks and Happy Hunting!

It's old and welcome to the crusty/burnt copper disk club, sorry I'm of no help.

Could be a 1806/07 KG3. My suspicion is the very small bust

Almost looks like a William III.

Looks like George III to me. But I can clearly see an "s" on the reverse which is puzzling me??
Not sure if that is an S or a worn out 8? 1798 maybe? Would the date be on the front though?

Looking at it better it looks like a King George half penny. Looks older than a 1806 or 1807. Definitely more crude and the lettering is spaced differently. Looks more like the 1700's style. Wish I could get a date of it. I can barely make out the Britannia on the back. I also think the date was on the back not the front which would date it older also. Looks more like this to me. I don't know though.

I'm still going with a William III halfpenny. Here's a couple pics... I'm pretty sure I can see the "M" to the left of the bust on the obverse.

Here's a comparison to your coin. Don't let that scratch to the left of the bust throw you. If you look at the ponytail just below it it seems to be the same. That would date it right around 1700.

From all the research I've done and being able to make out an ORG to the left of the bust I figure this is a first edition KG3 half penny. In between the years of 1770-1775. Wish I could get a date off of it!

Also it's a farthing not a half penny. A farthing measures 20mm and a half penny 28mm. It's 20mm on the nose.

Idk because the "8 or s" seems to curve with the coin edge. As opposed to being written straight across the bottom. I think it's definitely 1700s.
