Found this old coin (not US however) size of a dime, as an ender in a MWR box of dimes. It's very worn down, and as slick ( compared to the worst slick Merc you ever saw ). The pics are the best I can come up with. I will try to get gram weight, and side-by-side pic next to current dime, and a pic of thickness side-by-side. The top images portions of the date barely show, looks like late 1880s. The portrait of the head image faces to the right. I doubt if anyone can ID with what you see, without physically holding the coin.
