The farms I have been hunting lately are very old, settled in early 1700's and the other late 1600's. Today I figured I'd give the fields another day to dry up a little and hit a farm the farmer had told me to come back in December. I quickly met the tenant in the old house and was able to get the farmers number and her permission to be in the yard. The farmer gave me his blessing so I figured I'd try the yard where I knew there would be no mud. This farm was settled in 1860's I did no gridding, just kind of poked around finding the big token first, both sides of it has "50" on it. I'm not sure if there are any other tiny marks on it, it's in some distilled water. I also found some stinking Lincolns, 1961 Washington Quarter, 1944 and 1956 wheat, and a "lock plate" looks like a front plate to a small lock box?
I also went and checked this old home site yard of the same farmer,

nothing but trash there on my short one hour hunt there.
Enjoy the pix

Pretty sure that lock went on a leather satchel/brief case.

Congrats on the good finds Brad. :occasion14: Nothing like a change of site types to keep it interesting. I'd have stayed out of the muddy fields to.

Nice finds, looks like a nice place to hunt!

Thanks Ms Beeps

Thank you

Interesting, thanks Cru, it was so deep compared to anything I have dug in the last couple months. I did check ten by ten square around it, I immediately seen the key hole. It was at least 12 inches down I kept having problems getting my Garrett carrot to ring, lol I might have to check that area when I go back?

Thanks Kevin, I don't like Herman Monster boots

Nice finds congrats
Thanks Art

This farmer has quite a bit of property, should prove to be a good permission for the long term. I truly feel between all the permissions I have now, I can retire from knocking on doors.

Great finds Brad....that 50 token is intriguing....wonder what that is?

Thanks Dave

Was just looking at it, same on both sides, looked with a loop, no other markings anywhere on it. I have to try google now.

No doubt that sight still has the oldies in there!! Great variety of places you have there.. :)

That one is a tough hunt, very overgrown, very trashy, good go to place when fields are "just froze" (not deep froze) where there are allot of leaves here that will keep things digable.
