Hi all! I found this at a garage sale for $10 (hopefully this still counts as a 'treasure found' even though I didn't use an MD?), I think I got my money's worth.

I'm not a coin collector by any means, but this was too awesome to turn down (and hard to buy it nonchalantly). Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding out the worth of this?

Thanks,

Will

Wooow! I Love that
Amazing find!

Welcome to TNet Will. Awesome score on the coins!
I'm sure a member with coin knowledge will post to help you!

Its awesome :) all silver. Worth more than you paid for it but cant remember exactly how much each denomination weighs. Still more than an ounce there.

That is to cool. I would be extremly happy with a find like that. Thanks for sharing.

Melt value of the coins is approximately $36.80 Welcome to t-net.

You got your moneys worth on that one.

Next step is to remove those silver coins and bury them in your front yard. Then invite me over for a little hunt. I promise that I will be super excited when I dig them up! I know it sounds odd, but this is TNet tradition for all new members.

GL&HH!

The 2 quarters alo0ne are worth more than $10... Congrats great find!!!

cool find. does the clock still run? if so, I'd use it and enjoy it. If not, I'd either repair it, or dig the coins out and junk it

Welcome to treasurenet and congratulations on a great purchase. You did very well!

Cool clock. They made the same kind with a Morgan in it also. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418691826.938462.jpg

Really good score friend ! I tried to buy one like that at a coin store in Santa Fe - they said it wasn't for sale - I leaned on em ,
they would not sell it to me . I guess I'd go look at e-bay- see if there are any comparables for sale - just to get an idea of value.
Welcome to T- net !

( I just went over to ebay to look around - didn't see your model for sale anywhere - some other different
models could be had for $60 .00 - I like yours better !)

Coins are in way to good of a shape for melt value, IMO.

Welcome to T Net! Excellent find!
You definitely got the better of that deal! WTG!

Nice find!!! Treasure is where you find it. Welcome!

Terrific score, and welcome the TNet. This is the type of post that everyone enjoys reading.

Very nice silver coin clock, it is from 1964 so all the coins except the nickels and pennies are made out of 90% silver. It is probably worth around $40-$50, maybe more as a clock, the coins are worth around silver melt value, maybe slightly more on some of the nicer ones but it is more valuable as a clock. Nice find, I would love to find one sometime.

I merely mentioned the melt value to indicate the least it was worth not even taking into consideration the condition of the coins. I'm sure if you were to spend a few hours and remove the coins. And if you didn't damage any in the process they could be worth more.
