What I though might be a coin scatter following a track-way turned out to be a small sub-site to a close by larger site that spanned 2 fields. So this complex spanned 3 separate fields. I still believe it was connected by the track-way I was following. It only took me 4 hours hunting alone to finish this site. (about 1 acre) Cru'dad did 30 minutes - added 1 scrappy to the pile.
I found 10 Roman Coins in the first hour & I thought there must be 1 silver about, & it wasn't until I got to the edge of the site & gave up hope that a debased silver turned up laying on the surface - heads up. That makes 9 this month; equal to our best ever.
Strangely no artefacts.
Posy holder?
21 Roman Bronze Coins - 1 really nice Follis UPDATE - The follis looks like its an unlisted variant.(not in any of Cru'Dads books)
Bronze As of Octacila Severus, wife of Philip I, AD257-59 - Only our 2nd coin of her & our first bronze.
Silver Ant. of Postumus, AD260-65; HERC DEVSONIENSI refers to the cult of Hercules at Deuso, on the Rhine, Germany.
The Samian has a potters stamp with the maker being Celsianus of Lezoux (central France), AD160-200.
Funny how many years this was left undiscovered only 75 metres from where we regularly park, & we had scouts it a few times & missed it.
