just wanted to say hello to everyone been a fan of tnet for years finally decided to join. Ive been detecting for a few years im really interested in civil war sights anyone have any ideas on how to find information about them in st.helena parish.

Welcome to the asylum. I'm in St. Tammany. All that I can tell you about the war in that area is that there were skirmishes and troop movements, but exactly where I don't know. Some of my Confederate kin lived in that area before and after the war.

, I'm in Livingston Parish...we have a lot of history in Louisiana and it's very much worth seeking out to find hidden "treasures".

Bridge site nearby. In Civil War on route from Camp Moore to Mississippi River. Skirmish here on June 28, 1862. Breckenridge’s Confederates crossed here in August 1862 and Grierson’s Federal Raiders on May 1, 1863.

Gone. Was located in vicinity of Grangeville, District 62, St. Helena Parish.

The Williams Bridge in St. Helena Parish is on the Civil War route from Camp Moore to the Mississippi River. A skirmish occurs here on June 28, 1862. Breckenridge’s Confederates crossed the bridge in August 1862 and Grierson’s Federal Raiders on May 1, 1863.


The St. Helena Courthouse in Greensburg has some excellent records...more there than what you can find on the WWW.
