I look forward to trying this puppy out on my GTI-2500 (which I only have taken out three times so far).

I have been using Tinytec probes and while I have had some quality issues with them, they're a good value for the money. This thing, though, will mount right on my 'tector and use its power supply and settings. Anybody ever use something like this?

LM,

pinpoint on the 2500 as is, is more than you can
ask for, same with my 1500.

The sun-ray has some interesting uses that make
hunting and finding a lot easier.

It is very powerful, you will be getting results between
2-3 inches (without pinpoint on). Took a lot of
hunting hours for me to feel comfortable with it.
(You dug your hole which has been pinpointed and still
no item. You bring out this monster and it is reaching
out two or three inches in a 4-5 inchhole, takes time
understanding it)

Very expensive for a pinpointer. But it can be used for
very close pin points. After time I started to use it as
a very small coil. Next to foundations, strips of metal,
areas like that. I consider it a every day pinpointer
and a special use item.

Easy to find lost items that you have popped and did not notice,
just sweep the area with it. Able to dig smaller holes
using it. Pocket falls are easier to deal with. I use it when
I'm sitting down digging bottle dumps, in locating more
metal, no need to get up and use full coil on my machine.

Feel it is something that has its uses but is not something
I must have. Think I got it because I'm an old fart that
cannot see, hear, bend, turn without having problems;
at my age I feel it made me a better hunter.

After using it for 50-60 hours feel that I am finally
comfortable with it and think it would be difficult
readjusting my hunting style if I did not have it.
You may not have a problem with it since you have
not really used your 2500.

Do I feel it was a good purchase on my part, at first no;
after I used it for a while I realize that it saves me a lot
of time while hunting.

Again, its an interesting addition for your machine, but
very expensive. Not a must have item but another
weapon in the arsenal. A special tool.

have a good un..........

Jeff- very interesting!

Thanks, all.

Too bad the Garrett control boxes won't fully detach from the handle, like the Fisher machine shown in the previous post. I used to use the Fisher 1280-X and loved the fact that I could chest-mount it by removing the control box that way. Since the Garretts only detach the battery pack for beltmounting, I can't chest- or belt-mount them, but still, the idea of using the probe as a less-bulky small coil, free of the shaft, is interesting.
